Sharesight alternative

A Singapore wealth tracker for everything Sharesight leaves out

Sharesight is an excellent global investment tracker, especially for performance and capital-gains tax reporting across many countries. But if you live in Singapore, a lot of your wealth sits outside a brokerage account: CPF, SRS, your flat, your mortgage. This is an honest look at where each tool fits, so you can pick the one, or the pair, that matches how you actually track your money in 2026.

The short version

Sharesight is great for investors with portfolios spread across many countries who want deep performance analytics, automatic broker import, and capital-gains tax reports for markets that tax capital gains.

Merlio is great for Singapore households who want CPF, SRS, property, mortgage, cash, and investments in one net worth picture, in SGD, with a combined view for couples.

The honest verdict: Sharesight tracks your investments brilliantly. Merlio tracks your whole Singapore net worth. Many people happily use both.

Where Sharesight shines

Sharesight has been refining investment tracking since 2008, and it shows. If your holdings are spread across many countries and brokers, its automatic import, including email contract-note sync and broker connections, saves a lot of manual entry. Trades and dividends flow in without you copying anything by hand.

Its performance reporting is genuinely deep. Annualised returns, contribution analysis, currency-gain breakdowns, and benchmark comparisons are all first-class. And for investors in countries that tax capital gains, the tax reports are a standout feature: they can save real time and money at filing season.

If global, multi-broker investment performance and capital-gains tax reporting are what you need, Sharesight is a superb tool, and we'd recommend it without hesitation.

Where Merlio shines

Four things Merlio does that a global investment tracker is not built to do, especially for Singapore households.

Your whole net worth, not just your brokerage

In Singapore, a big share of your wealth lives outside a brokerage account: CPF, your flat, your mortgage, cash, SRS. Merlio brings all of it into one net worth figure in SGD, so you see the full picture rather than just the listed-securities slice.

Property is tracked at gross value with the linked mortgage deducted separately, the way a bank would see it.

CPF and SRS projections built in

Track your OA, SA, and MA balances and project compounded growth to 55 and 65 with the BHS cap and the extra interest tiers modelled correctly. The January interest credit is handled the way CPF Board actually does it.

SRS sits right alongside, with the contribution cap and tax relief tracked. There is even a free SRS tax-saving calculator.

Household mode for couples

Invite your partner with one signed link. They accept, you toggle Household, and you both see a combined net worth without ever sharing logins. Per-category opt-in means you choose what's shared and what stays private.

Joint mortgages dedupe automatically so the math doesn't double-count, and partner rows are read-only by design.

Singapore details done right

SGX payable dates cross-checked from multiple public feeds for .SI tickers, so you know the exact day cash lands. Mortgage modelling with two-phase rates and rate-lock tracking. An AI assistant that knows your portfolio and answers in plain English.

Everything is SGD-first, with nine currencies converted automatically in the background.

Who should use which

No tool is right for everyone. Here's an honest split.

Choose Merlio if

  • You want CPF, SRS, property, mortgage, cash, and investments in one net worth picture
  • You and your partner want a combined household view without sharing logins
  • You're a Singapore resident, where capital gains aren't taxed, so CGT reports don't matter to you
  • You want SGX payable dates handled and an AI that knows your portfolio
  • You want everything in SGD by default

Choose Sharesight if

  • Your investments span many countries and brokers and you want automatic import
  • You need capital-gains tax reports for a market that taxes capital gains
  • You want the deepest possible investment performance analytics
  • You don't need CPF, SRS, property, or a household view

Plenty of people use both: Sharesight for deep investment reporting, Merlio for the whole Singapore net worth picture around it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move my Sharesight portfolio into Merlio?

Yes. Merlio supports CSV import for IBKR and StocksCafe, plus a generic CSV importer for any broker or tool that exports a standard format. You can export your holdings from Sharesight and bring them in that way, or enter your current positions manually. Most people find manual entry takes about an hour for a 30-position portfolio.

Does Merlio do capital-gains tax reports like Sharesight?

No, and for most users here it doesn't need to. Singapore does not tax capital gains for individual investors, so Merlio focuses on net worth, CPF, SRS, and dividends instead. If you need multi-country capital-gains tax reporting, Sharesight is purpose-built for that and is the better choice.

Does Merlio track CPF and SRS?

Yes. This is the main thing a global investment tracker doesn't do. Merlio tracks your CPF OA, SA, and MA balances and projects them to 55 and 65 with the BHS cap and bonus interest tiers modelled. SRS is tracked alongside with its contribution cap and tax relief, and there's a free SRS tax-saving calculator too.

Can my partner and I see a combined view?

Yes, through household mode. You invite your partner with a signed link, they accept, and you each choose which categories to share, such as investments, CPF, property, and cash. Neither of you ever signs in as the other, and joint mortgages dedupe automatically so the math doesn't double-count.

Does Merlio import automatically from my broker?

Not yet. Sharesight's automatic broker and email contract-note import is a real strength that Merlio doesn't match today. Merlio uses CSV import and manual entry. If hands-off broker syncing is essential for you, that's a point in Sharesight's favour.

Which exchanges does Merlio support?

SGX, NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, ASX, Bursa Malaysia, HKEX, and crypto pairs. You can also add custom tickers for Endowus, StashAway, and any fund without a public ticker, with manual price updates.

Does Merlio give financial advice?

No. Merlio is a tracker and calculator. We don't recommend buys or sells, and we don't suggest target allocations. For personalised advice, please speak to a MAS-licensed financial adviser.
